This unit begins with a lesson based on a collection of folktales:
Sweet and Sour: Tales from China
Retold by Carol Kendall & Yao-wen Li. These are tales that have
survived thousands of years throughout Chinese history, primarily passed
down through oral tradition. The lesson concentrates on tales that
convey a moral, reflecting Chinese values. Students discover and
identify aspects of culture, both unique to China and universal in
nature
